Remarkably Bright Creatures Book Review: Finding Hope in Life's Unexpected Chapters

When Life Asks You to Become Someone New

There are seasons in life when we look around and realize the roles that once defined us have changed.

The children grow up. Careers end. Relationships shift. Loved ones are lost.

We can be left wondering who we are without the titles we've carried for so long.

That's one of the reasons I enjoyed Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt.

At its heart, this is a story about loneliness, friendship, grief, and unexpected connection. But it's also a reminder that our story isn't over simply because a chapter has ended.

The characters in this novel are all navigating transitions in their own way. They feel lost at times. They carry regrets. They long for belonging.

And yet through small acts of kindness and surprising relationships, they begin to discover that life still has new things to offer.

One of the gentle truths woven throughout this story is that home isn't always a place we return to.

Something we create within ourselves.

It's nice to be reminded that when we least expect it, life can introduce us to people who help us find our way there.

Porch Light Encouragement

If you're in a season of transition, be patient with yourself.

None of us has all the answers.

But please know that the ending of one role is not the ending of your story.

There is still life to be lived, joy to be discovered, and new parts of yourself waiting to be known.

Your next chapter might begin with nothing more than staying open to the possibility that something good may still be ahead.

Happy reading,

Until next time,

Lori
